One workplace referred to it as "advanced" time; SO, east-to-west timezones:  EAT, CAT, MAT & PAT ~ sounds like Dr.SeussTime.

Addendum:  Then there is the car buying experience ... there was once a caricature of Nixon with the caption , "Would you buy a used car from this man?"  Yes, I would prefer Nixon over Honda which may have the best reliability, but the worst hard-sell, high-pressure dealers (likewise for dealerships owned by Carlock).  New or used, a saleman is just a front man for the "man behind the curtain".  TrueCar.com does new & Kelley Blue Book knows used, but what dealers offers up-front pricing with no fees?

...the new spillway at Reelfoot Lake (the port at Cates Landing on the Mississippi River is another destruction site).  The current spillway, circa 1930, is also the bridge connecting Lake to Obion county and is under-destruction from traffic.

This past weekend was the annual traffic-jam (http://www.reelfootartsandcrafts.com/); craftier than artsy, but mostly peripheral flea-markets & lots of yard sales. This coming weekend is the waterfowl festival (http://www.reelfootwaterfowl.com/); lots of duck calls, but no duck come!

'Tis Fall judging by the farm equipment I encounter on the road. Corn is finishing-up then soy and cotton starting-up...streets are lined with cotton bolls especially as they converge on the gin.

Since the flooding in early May--some bugged-out never to return--seems like it's been even quieter around here; maybe it's those who couldn't afford a muffler before, can't afford gas now.

Vanishing Buzz

"Vanishing of the Bees" is a documentary about the honeybee genocide ... I had assumed Colony Collapse Disorder was Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus not being contained & getting into the US; rather CCD may be the newer systemic pesticide use on mono-culture, industrial farms. I had toyed with the idea of "bee~ng" a nomadic/itinerant bee~herder; however migratory beekeepers are just agri-biz - not for the honey but pollination - & truckers too. Funny~honey is imported.
My criteria for rural living included not being near/downwind from feedlots nor oil fields and avoiding cotton (fertilizers,pesticides,herbicides,& even defoliants at harvest). BUT corn&soy utilizing systemics ought to be avoided too. (Note: I live downwind from both corn&soy; I find soybeans growing in my lawn - I may be taken-out & lynched by the Monsanto posse.)

After the rain ...

Another 2X2 mosaic ... I spend more time composing the shot that I miss the rainbow ...
